Programming

The Withers Collection Museum and Gallery plays host to many current community events as well. We are committed to engaging our guests with the present as well as the past, and offer many opportunities for communal connection and growth. Here are some ways you can participate:

Talk About It Tuesday

“Talk About It Tuesday” is a monthly panel discussion with Q & A designed to bring people from the local community together to inspire discussion about the significant impact of cultural history in movements for economic and social justice.

With community programs such as Talk About It Tuesday, we are committed to raising history awareness, which we hope will also raise funds and donations for our continued work in preserving and presenting our precious cultural assets.

The History Awareness Program

“The History Awareness Program” is a student/teacher program designed to offer subsidized tours of the museum, with a docent led tour, a short film on the life of Dr. Withers and an opportunity for Q&A with the museum staff.

Summer Internship Programs

The Withers Collection partners with Memphis Music Initiative and the City of Memphis MPLOY summer internship programs to provide opportunities for youth and young adults to gain experience working in the non-profit arts, humanities and cultural sectors.

The Studio Lounge Presents

“The Studio Lounge Presents” is a community engagement program of the Withers Collection Museum and Gallery that showcases new artists to the Memphis community. Each quarter, an artist is selected and promoted by the Museum, and an event is scheduled in the Lounge, where the public pays a nominal admission to meet the artist, or hear a performance, with the opportunity to purchase art.
